"This woman is about as subtle as a gun."

- Andrew Paxton about Margaret Tate.

Margaret Tate is a Canadian citizen from Toronto, Canada, who works for Colden Books, an American book publishing company based in New York, as the executive editor-in-chief.

At Colden Books, Margaret Tate has a bad reputation around the office. Each and every single one of the employees at Colden Books who hold lower positions than her in the company hate and fear her because of her attitude. This includes her personal assistant and secretary, Andrew Paxton, who has worked under her and endured her abusive behavior for 3 years, hoping that he would one day be promoted into an editor by her.

One morning at work, Margaret Tate's superiors at Colden Books informed her that her visa application had been denied because she did not fill out some paperwork on time and also she left the United States of America while her visa application was being processed.

Upon discovering that her visa application had been denied and that she was being deported back to Canada, Margaret Tate quickly improvised and lied to everyone that her secretary, Andrew Paxton, and her are about to get married. Margaret Tate also blackmailed Andrew Paxton to marry her, to which he agreed because he knew that he would lose his job also if Margaret Tate were to be deported.

After the blackmail, Margaret Tate was then forced to spend time at Andrew Paxton's parents house in Sitka, Alaska. While spending time at the Paxton family's home in Alaska, Margaret Tate started to grow close to Andrew Paxton and she slowly fell in love with him. This caused her to reveal the truth about the blackmail to Andrew Paxton's family because she could not bring herself to ruin Andrew Paxton's life.

Fortunately for Margaret Tate, Andrew Paxton had also fallen in love with her after spending time with her in Alaska. While cleaning out her office after she was informed that she had 24 hours to head back to Canada, Margaret Tate was approached by Andrew Paxton. They admitted their love for one another and they got engaged for real.

Margaret Busy with Work

"Cancel the call, push the meeting to tomorrow and keep the lawyer on the sheets. Oh and get a hold of PR, have them start drafting a press release. Frank is doing Oprah."

"Wow. Nicely done."

"If I want your praise, I will ask for it."

- Margaret Tate and Andrew Paxton

One regular workday, Margaret Tate walked into the office and was greeted by her secretary, Andrew Paxton. Margaret Tate was told by her secretary that she had a meeting at 9am and that her immigration lawyer wanted to speak to her as soon as possible. However, Margaret Tate told Andrew Paxton to cancel the call, push the meeting to the next day and keep her lawyer on the sheets. When Andrew Paxton praised Margaret Tate for being so organized, Margaret Tate responded by telling Andrew Paxton that she did not ask for Andrew Paxton to praise her, which showed that Margaret Tate was very rude towards her staffs.

Margaret Asks about Coffee

Margaret Tate asks Andrew Paxton about her coffee

Just when Andrew Paxton was about to leave her office, Margaret Tate realized that there was something different with her coffee cup. She realized that her coffee cup had a phone number written on it and knew instantly that the coffee cup she was holding was not meant for her. This showed that Margaret Tate was a very observant person.

Andrew Paxton responded by telling Margaret Tate that the coffee cup was actually his and that her coffee had been spilled. When Margaret Tate took a sip of the coffee, she realized that Andrew Paxton drinks the exact same coffee as her. When she asked Andrew Paxton if that was a coincidence, Andrew Paxton responded with a simple yes.

On the Way to Bob's Office

Margaret Tate on her way to Bob's office

After that, the phone in Margaret Tate's office rang, so Andrew Paxton answered the phone and realized that it was Bob Spaulding on the phone. Instantly, Margaret Tate gave Andrew Paxton a sign that they were about to head over to Bob Spaulding's office.

When Andrew Paxton asked Margaret Tate why they were going over to Bob Spaulding's office, Margaret Tate responded by giving Andrew Paxton a sign that Bob Spaudling was in trouble.

On their way to Bob Spaulding's office, Margaret Tate was shown to be feared by her secretary as her secretary even had to ask Margaret Tate if he could ask her a question before asking a question. Moreover, Margaret Tate once again displayed that she was a very observant person by quickly discovering that Andrew Paxton deliberately purchased 2 of the same coffee in case her coffee spilled. She discovered this by noticing the coffee stains on the shirt of a Colden Books employee. Margaret Tate called Andrew Paxton pathetic and told Andrew Paxton to keep quiet while they were in Bob Spaulding's office.

Margaret Fires Bob

When Margaret Tate and Andrew Paxton entered Bob Spaulding's office, Bob Spaulding immediately greeted and praised Margaret Tate by calling her a fearless woman, which hinted that many Colden Books employees believed that Margaret Tate had no fears at all.

After receiving the compliment from Bob Spaulding, Margaret Tate told Bob Spaulding that she had to let him go. This was because she had repeatedly asked Bob Spaulding earlier to get Frank to do Oprah and Bob Spaulding did not do it. She then told Bob Spaulding that she would give him 2 months to find another job. That way, he could tell every other employee at Colden Books that he chose to resign instead.

Margaret Angry

Bob Spaulding shouts at Margaret Tate

"You poisonous bitch! You can't fire me! You don't think I see what you're doing here? Sandbagging me on this Oprah thing just so that you can look good on the board? Because you are threatened by me! And you are a monster."

"Bob, stop."

"Just because you have no semblance of a life outside of this office, you think that you can treat all of us like your own personal slaves. You know what? I feel sorry for you"

- Bob Spaulding to Margaret Tate

Immediately after firing Bob Spaulding, Bob Spaulding left his office and shouted and scolded Margaret Tate, telling her that she was firing him because she was afraid of him. Being a woman who cannot stand her employees disrespecting her, Margaret Tate proceeded to humiliate Bob Spaulding in front of many Colden Books employees.

Margaret Tate told Bob Spaulding that she was firing him because he was lazy, entitled, incompetent and that he spent more time cheating on his wife than working in his office. Additionally, she also warned Bob Spaulding that if he were to say another word, she would have her secretary escort him to leave Colden Books. This showed that Margaret Tate was a very intimidating woman.

"And I need you around this weekend to help review his files and his manuscript."

This forced Andrew Paxton to cancel his plans of returning home over the weekend for his Grandmother's 90th birthday. This also showed that Margaret Tate was inconsiderate and unsympathetic.

After that moment, Andrew Paxton contacted home to tell his family that he would not be able to make it back home to celebrate his grandmother's birthday because Margaret Tate needed him over the weekend. Realizing that Margaret Tate could hear his conversation, Andrew Paxton quickly ended the call. When Margaret Tate asked Andrew Paxton if his family had been asking him to quit, Andrew Paxton told her that his family had been telling him to quit every single day. Then, Margaret Tate was summoned to her superiors' office.

In fact, Margaret Tate acted the complete opposite when she was around her superiors; Margaret Tate acted very gentle and nice towards her two superiors. In front of her two superiors, Margaret Tate switched from her usual arrogant proud look to a sweet and beautiful smile. In addition, she even joked with her superiors by asking them if they were calling her in because she was going to get a second raise.

"Come on. Come on! It's not like I'm even an immigrant! I'm from Canada from Christ's sake."

- Margaret Tate upon learning about her deportation

Unfortunately for Margaret Tate, the meeting with her superiors was not about her second raise. Instead, the meeting was to inform Margaret Tate that her visa application had been denied and she was to be deported to her country, Canada. Upon learning this truth, Margaret Tate panicked and came up with a number of excuses. One of which was that she was not even an immigrant because she was from Canada.

Getting Married

Margaret faking her marriage with Andrew

When Andrew Paxton entered the office to fetch Margaret Tate, Margaret Tate came up with a brilliant idea that would allow her to stay in the United States of America permanently. Immediately, Margaret Tate lied to her superiors that she was about to get married with her secretary, Andrew Paxton.

This action taken by the executive editor-in-chief of Colden Books showed that she was an extremely rash person who tends to act quickly without taking into consideration the possible consequences of her actions. Andrew Paxton was stunned by his boss' actions, but he played along, which made Margaret Tate's superiors believe her.

The Blackmail[]

The Blackmail

Margaret Tate blackmailing Andrew Paxton

"Because if you don't marry me, your dreams of touching the lives of millions with the written word are dead. Bob is gonna fire you the second I'm gone. Guaranteed. That means you're out on the street alone looking for a job. That means all that time we spent together, all the lattes, all the cancelled dates, all the midnight Tampax runs, were all for nothing and all your dreams of being an editor are gone."

- Margaret Tate blackmailing Andrew Paxton

Back in Margaret Tate's office. Margaret Tate blackmailed Andrew Paxton. Being a fearless woman, Margaret Tate was not afraid of committing fraud. Her fearlessness was shown because she blackmailed Andrew Paxton to marry her, so that she could keep her job and continue staying in the United States of America. Margaret Tate blackmailed Andrew Paxton by stating that if Andrew Paxton were to refuse marrying her, he would surely be fired immediately as Bob Spaulding would take her place as executive editor-in-chief of Colden Books if she were to be deported back to Canada.

No, no. Frank, if I may get down to it, Okay... I think it would be a mistake to back out. Because, Frank, for so many years... you have inspired me with your beautiful words, and I feel that... Shh! Dog, I'm on the phone."

- Margaret Tate on the phone with Frank while Kevin is barking

Notable Relationships[]

DressFitting

Annie and Margaret.

After recovering from the shock of Margaret's age, Annie and Grace Paxton took a liking to Margaret. They listened to the engagemnt story with joy, laughed as Margaret "played" with Kevin, took her stripping, offered her and Andrew the baby-maker and fitted her in the dress that Annie's grandmother made for her (Annie compared finding Margaret's breast to an egg hunt). After the revelation that their love was fake, Grace and Annie still liked Margaret, aware that because she didn't marry him, she loved him and Annie was interviewed by the INS about their relationship.

Joe didn't like Margaret very much originally and liked her less when he disovered that the marriage was a sham. However, he too forgave her after the revelation that Margaret really loved Andrew.

Andrew Paxton[]

MargaretProposes

Margaret proposes.

Originally, Andrew was no more than a useful assistant to Margaret and Margaret was no more than a fearsome and bitchy boss to Andrew. However when Margaret discovered she was being deported, she concocted a lie and then forced Andrew to marry her by threatening him with his job. He grudgingly complied but blackmailed her with him getting a promotion and him getting to tell his family his way.

FirstKiss

First kiss with Andrew.

They flew to Sitka and on the way he annoyed her with small things like refusing to help her with luggage and throwing a bag in the water by "accident". While they both told the story of the engagement, they insulted each other quietly without anyone noticing and at night, Margaret slept in the bed while he slept on the floor. Andrew started taking advantage of the lie by hugging her and rubbing her ass and saying that his family shouldn't see them arguing.

Margaret grew close to Andrew and one night, she revealed to him many details about her life and he told her she was beautiful. After speaking with Gammy she brought Andrew onto a boat and told him that they shouldn't do it because he could lose everything and his family was wonderful. However, he convinced her to continue with the plan. On the wedding day, Margaret interrupted Ramone and told everyone the truth. She left the barn and went on a boat back to New York. At New York, she packed away her final things and as she asked an employee to take a box, she saw Andrew who told her he loved her and wanted to marry her. She kissed him and he took it as a yes.

Ramone[]

RamoneStrips

Ramone strips.

Although Ramone took an instant liking to Margaret, Margaret is not too fond of Ramone. At Andrew's party, Ramone offered her sushis, she said she wasn't a fish person but he stuffed it into her mouth. Margaret walking backwards away from superiors

While lying to her superiors, Margaret Tate was seen walking backwards away from her superiors.

During the same day, after Margaret Tate's outing with Grace and Annie Paxton, Margaret Tate returned to her room to take her first shower since her arrival in Sitka, Alaska.

Realizing that the towels were in the linen closet outside the bathroom, Margaret Tate emerged from the bathroom naked to grab a towel from the linen closet. Grace telling Margaret about Towels

Grace showing Margaret the towels

In addition to her visa application being denied, Margaret Tate also made a few other careless mistakes while she was visiting the Paxton family in Sitka with her secretary, Andrew Paxton.

During her first day in Sitka, after experiencing the welcome party at the Paxton family's home, Margaret Tate was shown to her room by Grace Paxton and Annie Paxton. While she was being shown her room, Grace Paxton explained to Margaret Tate that there were extra towels and linens in the linen closet in case she needed them.

Margaret retreating into bathroom

Margaret while being pestered by Kevin

Despite being shown where the towels were kept in the room by Grace Paxton, Margaret Tate did not know where the towels were kept. Hence, it can be deduced that Margaret Tate did not pay attention to Grace Paxton while Grace Paxton was showing her the towels in the linen closet.

As a result of her own carelessness, the executive editor-in-chief of Colden Books had to look around the bathroom for towels after her shower only to discover that the towels were kept in the linen closet outside of the bathroom. Margaret Tate even had to emerge from the bathroom naked as a jaybird to grab a towel from the linen closet. Her carelessness caused her to end up naked in front of her secretary because she was pestered by Kevin while trying to grab a towel.

Margaret falls

Margaret falling into the lake

Lastly, during Margaret Tate's third day in Sitka, Margaret Tate was reminded that she had forgotten what it was to have a family. As a result, Margaret Tate became very emotional and she drove the Paxton family's jet boat at very high speed.

Eventually, Andrew Paxton took over the wheel from Margaret Tate while Margaret Tate sat down on the edge of the boat. This careless action from Margaret Tate almost cost her her life because when Andrew Paxton turned quickly to avoid colliding into the buoy, Margaret Tate fell into the lake. Because Margaret Tate did not know how to swim, Margaret Tate almost drowned. Fortunately, she was able to get to the buoy and Andrew Paxton pulled her back onto the jet boat.

When Andrew Paxton entered her superiors' office, Margaret Tate's quick thinking skills allowed her to come up with a solution instantly. Margaret Tate then improvised a fake marriage and told her superiors that she was going to marry her secretary, Andrew Paxton.

Margaret Tate improvising 2

During the same day when Margaret Tate used her skills to persuade Frank into doing an interview with Oprah, Margaret Tate also used the same skill to persuade/blackmail her secretary, Andrew Paxton, into marrying her, so that she could remain in the United States of America and keep her job as the executive editor-in-chief of Colden Books.

Margaret Tate is Somewhat Hypocritical[]

Margaret Humiliates Bob

Margaret telling Bob he is entitled

Margaret Tate has also been shown to be a hypocrite on several occasions, as she exhibits double-standards in the way she behaves, e.g., not allowing another person to do something, but does not show guilt or hesitance in doing the same thing.

"I fired you because you're lazy, entitled, incompetent and you spend more time cheating on your wife than you do in your office," was what Margaret Tate told Bob after firing him. This statement is evidence that Margaret Tate hates people who are entitled, which in this case, Bob was showing a sense of entitlement by believing that he is entitled to his job despite being incompetent.

Margaret entitled to keep job

However, despite being a person who hates entitled people, Margaret Tate has no problem being an entitled person herself. This occurred during the same day when Margaret Tate called Bob an entitled person.

Shortly after calling Bob an entitled person in front of many other employees, Margaret Tate learned that her visa application had been denied. With a failed visa application, Margaret Tate could no longer work for an American company. However, despite knowing about her deportation, Margaret Tate still felt entitled to her job as the executive editor-in-chief of Colden Books.

Margaret Prioritizing her Tasks

Margaret prioritizing Frank's interview

She was also told by Andrew Paxton that her immigration lawyer had been trying to contact her.

However, since Margaret Tate was already focusing on getting Frank to do an interview with Oprah, she told Andrew Paxton to cancel the call, push the meeting to the next day and keep the lawyer on the sheets. Margaret Tate also told Andrew Paxton to get a hold of PR and have them start drafting a press release because Frank was going to do the interview with Oprah.

Margaret Tate's Fears[]

Margaret threatening Bob

Margaret threatening Bob fearlessly

"Ah! Our fearless leader and her liege. Please do come in," was a compliment that was given to Margaret Tate by Bob Spaulding when Margaret Tate went to see him in his office during the morning he got fired for disobeying Margaret Tate's orders. As the most intimidating woman at Colden Books who is feared by every employee in the company, Margaret Tate is a remarkably fearless woman.

Her action of taking that risk caused her to be unable to work for an American company and she was to be deported from the United States. However, Margaret Tate's fearlessness in taking risks has also made her unafraid of taking illegal actions to save her job.

After learning about her deportation, Margaret Tate fearlessly blackmailed her secretary to marry her, so that she could keep her job. Despite being told by Andrew Paxton that their marriage was illegal, Margaret Tate calmly said, "They're looking for terrorists, not for book publishers."

Margaret unafraid of consequences

At the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, she was confronted by Mr. Gilbertson, an employee at the immigration services who suspected that Margaret Tate and Andrew Paxton were committing fraud. Despite being told the severe consequences of her fraud by Mr. Gilbertson, Margaret Tate still decided to take the risk and continue with committing fraud, so that she could keep her job.

Margaret begs for her job

Margaret begging her superiors

Realizing that she could lose her job, Margaret Tate decided to save her job by blackmailing her secretary, Andrew Paxton, to marry her. After the blackmail, Margaret Tate visited the United States Citizenship and Immigration services to file her fiancee visa.

Eventually, Margaret Tate let go of the steering wheel and Andrew Paxton took over. When Andrew Paxton made a sharp turn to avoid hitting a buoy, Margaret Tate fell into the lake. Being unable to swim, Margaret Tate was seen feeling terrified, as she was afraid that she would drown in the lake. Luckily for her, she was rescued by Andrew Paxton.

After Margaret Tate and Andrew Paxton had finished answering Mr. Gilbertson's questions, Margaret Tate received a phone call. Outside the building, Margaret Tate was seen using her mobile phone with her right hand, instead of her left hand.

After agreeing to promote Andrew Paxton to the position of an editor, Margaret Tate and her secretary flew to Sitka, Alaska, to meet Andrew Paxton's family. In Sitka, Margaret Tate was seen doing most things with her right hand as well.

For example, after her arrival in Sikta, Margaret Tate discovered that her hotel reservation had been cancelled, so she was brought to the Paxton family's home. When Margaret Tate arrived at the Paxton family's home, she was forced to attend a party. During the party, Margaret Tate was seen holding a glass of wine in her right hand, instead of her left hand.

Furthermore, during her her second day in Sitka, when Margaret Tate returned to her room after an outing with Grace Paxton and Annie Paxton, Margaret Tate took her first shower since her arrival in Sitka.

After she had finished showering, Margaret Tate realized that there were no towels in the bathroom. When Margaret Tate left the bathroom naked to grab a towel from the linen closet outside the bathroom, she was pestered by Kevin.

This forced Margaret Tate to retreat into the bathroom. While trying to find a way to get past Kevin, Margaret Tate tried using a hair dryer to get Kevin to move away. While using the hair dryer, Margaret Tate was seen holding the hair dryer in her right hand, instead of her left hand.

Last but not least, the dead giveaway that Margaret Tate is a right-handed person was when she returned to her office after lying to her superiors that she and her secretary, Andrew Paxton, were going to get married.

When Margaret Tate returned to her office after lying to her superiors, Margaret Tate started her work for the day. While doing her work, Margaret Tate was seen holding a pencil with her right hand, instead of her left hand, which indicated that Margaret Tate writes with her right hand, instead of her left hand.

Margaret Tate has a Tattoo[]

While Margaret Tate was on her way to Sitka with Andrew Paxton, Andrew Paxton mentioned that Margaret Tate has a tattoo. However, he was uncertain of the exact location of her tattoo.

When Andrew Paxton asked Margaret Tate about the location of her tattoo, Margaret Tate refused to tell Andrew Paxton. This was probably because of the fact that her tattoo could only be seen if her bare back was uncovered.

However, Andrew Paxton eventually found out the location of her tattoo when she ended up naked in front of him unintentionally. Margaret Tate got her back tattoo with two swallows during the year her parents passed away.
